In this blog I will be creating a daily log to show the process of decision making and what I have been getting up to each day, this log will allow me to keep a good understanding of how my project is coming along.
23/4/18 - Today I compiled a list of all of the equipment that I will hopefully be using for my FMP project. The list includes the cameras and other equipment such as tripods and microphones that I will be using. I have also included the prices of all of the equipment that I will be using to give people an idea of how much money goes into a production like this. This list will help me to see my spending costs in the future so if people ask about the equipment that I will be using then I can easily tell them what I am using and the price range for that product. Next I will be looking into creating a location scout for the skatepark so that I know the area that I will be working with.
25/4/18 - Today I completed a location scout for Unit 1 skatepark. The location scout shows the exterior of the skatepark and an image of the interior of the skatepark. Unfortunately I was unable to get to the skatepark to take some pictures and videos for myself so my location scout is very basic with a screen recording from google maps and an old image of the inside of the skatepark. This location scout will help anyone who is looking into my project to see where my final video is taking place.
26/4/18 - Today I created a storyboard and risk assessment for my Final Major Project. The storyboard is a guide for me when it comes to editing my video so I know exactly how to edit my video and what it should look like. The storyboard shows me what order I should put the clips in when I start editing my video. My risk assessment is covering me if something were to go wrong when I was filming as it shows I have prepared for something going wrong. These two forms are very important and helpful in the future of my project as I can refer back to them for advice and guidance.
16/5/18 - Today I created a consent form to hand out to parents at the skatepark. These forms were created from a template I have found online. Consent forms are very important as if there are implications with the filming of certain children I can show proof that their parents have given me permission for me to film their children. The consent forms are also something that I can come back to in the future to show that I have created documents that back up the filming of my video.
14/05/18 - Today I began filming for my FMP. I filmed all of the B-Roll footage to overlay the interview shots of the video. The filming went well and I got all of the footage that I wanted. I used the DJI Ronin M for some of the shots to make them extra smooth and clean. I also filmed some handheld to give a personal effect on the video. I used a Canon 760D with a wide range of lenses such as a Sigma 18-35 for a very professional look and a Samyang 8mm Fisheye to give it a proper skatepark feel. I went into the filming session with no plan on what to film as I like to make it up as I go otherwise I feel as if the video starts to become very scripted as you are trying to get people to act out scenes when they are not actors. I got some very nice footage and have made sure that all of the footage is good before I move on to the next set of filming. I also handed out my consent forms and got all of them back as no one had a problem with filming.
16/05/18 - Today and for the rest of this week I will be finalising any paperwork that has not yet been completed. I will be reviewing footage that I recorded on Monday to ensure that it is all up to standard. I will also be asking some classmates for their opinions of some different camera techniques and styles to see what they prefer so I know what to use in my video. I also done a review of all of my work so far to see what else there was left to do.

This has helped me to understand what work I need to complete/start to help me to work towards getting a distinction to get into uni.
17/05/18 - Today I have gathered two different types of clip that I filmed on Monday. I have created a short survey that will allow me to gauge an under standing for what people will want to see in my FMP. My survey will inform my FMP for which style of cinematography I should use most. My survey was completed by the whole class which gave me a good overview at what people liked to see as it will help me to create my final video to fit a wider and more direct target audience.
21/05/18 - Today I will be doing my final filming for my FMP. I am going to be filming the interviews for my video. The interviews will be with some instructors, pupils and hopefully with the owner of the skatepark. I am hoping that this filming will go to plan so that I can get underway with the editing of the video. I am hoping that I can get the video completely edited by the end of Tuesday so that I can upload it first thing on Wednesday morning. The filming was very unsuccessful as I was told that the lapel microphones would work with the H4N Zoom Mic but it didn't so I had to use the zoom mic recording the atmosphere and hope that it would pick up the subject talking but it didn't so I had to use the audio that my Rode Mic on my camera recorded as it was more clear and a lot easier to hear. The audio is a big part of the video as I wanted you to clearly be able to hear and understand what the subject was saying about the skatepark. Some of the interviews are okay as the subjects speak quite loudly and you can hear what they are saying but the children speak very quietly so it is very difficult to understand what they are saying. The camera angle for the interviews is nice but I would've liked to interview people in different locations but I was not able to as there was people riding the skatepark so I couldn't film in there. I had to try and do some minor adjustments in premiere pro to make the audio more understandable.
22/05/18 - Today I edited my FMP on Premiere Pro at home, The editing went rather well as I had a plan in my head of what I want to do. I edited the video to some copyright free music I found online. The video was edited to the script of the storyboard so it was a lot easier for me to keep on track with my editing.
2/06/18 - Today I wrote my evaluation for my FMP, I discussed what went well and what didn't go well throughout my project. It is a large blog post but it covers my whole project from start to finish. I also recorded my FMP Final video voiceover ready to upload on Monday. I discussed my favourite and least favourite parts of the video and why the video is what it is. Next I will be creating my powerpoint presentation that I will be presenting on Monday morning.
03/06/18 - Today I created my FMP Final presentation that will be marked. I really like the look of the presentation as the background is a screenshot of my FMP video. I also think that I have made a very effective presentation that will allow me to showcase my work and the ideas behind it. Hopefully my presentation will go smoothly and I will get a good grade.
