For my Final Major Production I am going to be progressing three of my initial ideas. The first one being the promotional video.

I spoke with my lecturer about my previous videos and what we thought was the best one. I felt as if my recent music video was the best video but he thinks that my Factual Production was the best video and he believes that I should create a video similar to that.

I really enjoyed filming this video as it was at the skatepark and I enjoy filming at the skatepark as that is where my passion for film making came from. He believes that I should make another video similar to this as he said it has a good story and a nice emotional feel to it. I feel as if I could make a video that is a lot better than this but with the same sort of video/storyline. The filming in this video was rushed and I didn't spend enough time reviewing shots before moving on. I could make the video at another skatepark with another subject which would make sure that the viewer knew that I was experimenting with different locations and subject styles. I am an instructor at Unit 1 Skatepark in Rochester so I could very easily use that skatepark as a location. I teach younger children how to ride stunt scooters so I could definitely find another subject for the video.

Here is a link to my analysis of that video:

I feel as if the video is good but there are a lot of improvements that could be made, such as the filming and editing. I also think that I could emphasise the emotion a lot more in this project. I believe that I could really outdo myself on this project.

The first video I will be analysing is a skatepark documentary in Nepal;

This video has a similar feel to the one I want to make for my idea at the skatepark. I really like this video as it has a really nice feel to the video. The emotion is portrayed very nicely in this video and you can see how passionate everyone in the project is about doing this. I like that the video shows the diversity of all of the people involved, you see the young children, the middle aged skateboarders and helpers and the elderly people who take their children to the skatepark. The video shows a good story of progression as you can see how the skatepark started as nothing and progressed into a thriving community for everyone to enjoy. I can take a lot from this video and put it into my video, such as the large variety of age ranges that speak and are involved in the video. I also really like the cinematography techniques used in this video as they really help portray the emotions in the video. I believe that this video was successful in motivating people to get out there and have fun with their lives because you never know how much time you have left. It also shows the viewer that there are always people out there that have it worse than you do. I think that this video promotes a healthy and happy lifestyle which is very good as a lot of people struggle with that these days.

All of the screenshots above show a variety of people from all around the world who came together to make this project possible. The camera angles for all of these interviews are really nice as the subject looks comfortable and doesn't look uneasy or uncomfortable. That is something that I would like to do in my video as I think it lets the viewer know that the subject isn't being forced to say anything they don't want to and that they are happy to be speaking their mind. My two favourite of the interview looks is the one just above and the second one from the top. The second one is nice as you can see the subjects skateboard which is nice as it lets you know that he actually does ride a skateboard and is there because he is passionate about what he does.

I then went on to create a large blog post talking about cinematography and the historical, ethical and social aspects of it;

I also made a very large blog post dedicated to overall research of my three ideas before I chose my final idea. It includes sections such as Audience, Market, Production and influencers;

Finally I made an evaluation of all of the research and information I had collected and created so far. This evaluation majorly affected my final decision of which idea I should choose as it showed me all of the work that I had completed for each idea and how it would work as a final video;

All of this research has helped me to come to the conclusion that the Skatepark promotional video will be the best video to make as I have lots of experience in this field and I should be able to make a very high-quality and aesthetically pleasing video.
