In this blog post I will be evaluating all of the research I have conducted in this project. By evaluating this research I will be able to see how the research helped me to determine the outcome of my project.

The first research I done for this project is the analysis of the videos that are similar to my initial ideas. To conduct this research I went to YouTube I looked for videos that would potentially be similar to my ideas. I had a few videos in mind for what I was looking for as I have watched them before.I managed to find some good videos that represented the same thing that I am hoping to portray. From this research I learnt about some good cinematography techniques to use in the certain videos that I am planning to create. I also gained some editing techniques and production skills I would need to create a high quality video that was somewhat near the standard of these videos that I have sourced. I also done some research into the target audience of these videos and this has helped me to gain some knowledge on what to aim my video ideas towards. From analysing these videos I have learnt about some of the underlying meanings of the videos. By finding this out I have been able understand some good features of the video that I could add to my productions. This research has helped me to understand some important key features that I will need to add to my final idea. I believe that I could've made the research a bit better if I analysed more videos that were similar to my ideas. I think that this would have allowed me to gauge a wider understanding of the general idea and feel behind the production. This part of my research was a key part as it really helped me to gauge what is being asked of me when creating my final production.

The next bit of research I done was the in-depth analysis of cinematography, This piece of research was very important for me to do as it allowed me to understand the historical and materialistic values of cinematography and how its development over the past 150+ years. The development of cinematography has greatly improved the quality of work and information that is portrayed to the people. I feel as if this research was very important for me to complete as cinematography plays a large part in my Final Major Production as I am planning on creating a high-quality video on one of my initial ideas. Learning and gaining this knowledge will allow me to gauge an understanding of the wider aspect of creating a professional video to a brief that I will set my self. I do not believe that there is anything else that I could do to make this research much better as I done everything that I needed to do to understand the historical aspect of cinematography and cameras.

I then created a large research document discussing the Audience, Market, Production and influences for all 3 of my ideas. This research document is one of the biggest yet most important parts of research for this project as it will allow me to learn a lot about how I need to produce my final idea and how I will need to portray it. This will really help me to gauge a idea of what my final product will be like. This research page is going to be very helpful when it comes deciding on my final idea as I can see what idea will be more professional and which video will come out the best. I will go through each aspect and how it will help me moving forward.

Firstly, the Audience. I have been able to analyse other videos and work out the target audience of the videos from the way that they are produced and the music/videography work that was used to create the video. By understanding the target audience for the videos it will make it a lot easier for me to create my videos as I will already know who I am aiming the video towards. This will make my life a lot easier as I will be able to create the video with a set target audience in mind. I have created a target audience for all of the potential video ideas, this will majorly speed up the time of my FMP research as I have already decided the audiences for the proposed videos. To make this research more accurate I could have created some sort of questionnaire to help me to see first hand what age range of people are interested in the videos.

Next is the market. In this section I was talking about the market and how many videos of that style are around. This research will help me to understand what I am competing with as it is important to know how many other videos there are in the market so that I am able to gauge what competition I have and what kind of standards have been set. The market isn't very large for 2 of my ideas so that may be a good idea to go with one of them as it means that I will not have much competition. To make this research more professional I could've dug a bit deeper to try and find more videos that are in the same style that I am hoping to achieve.

I then went on to talk about the production of the videos, this research was important for me to conduct as I will now know what style I need to film the chosen video in. By understanding the cinematography techniques used in other videos I will be able to create similar effects on my final video. This will be really important to my final production as I will be able to work on the project with the correct equipment and cinematography techniques in mind. To make this research better I could have gone into more depth into finding out the equipment used in the videos that I have previously analysed and looked into. If I could find out the exact equipment that they used then that could've helped me to create my video to an even better standard.

Finally, the influencers to my FMP. In this section I spoke about my influences for this project and how they have progressed through the ranks and become successful. I looked up some work produced by all of my influences. Some of my influencers I have known of for a long time but some of them are new to me after seeing their recent projects. By identifying my influencers I am able to go back to their work and potentially use some of their techniques from editing to camera work.

This research document is very important to my Final Major Project as it will allow me to enter the chosen project with some knowledge and idea on what I need to do and how I need to do it. All of the information I have gained from this research document will help me to inform my Final Major Project.

Next I done an interview with some fellow students on what they would like to see from the videos that I will potentially be making. I created some questions to ask all 3 of my subjects and I recorded their answers on my phone in voice memos. By getting people to answer these questions it allowed me to get a wider understanding of what people expect and what people will want to see in the video I end up choosing. This is one of my examples of primary research, this was one of the most helpful pieces of research that I have completed as I got first hand answers from people who are likely to watch my final product and the fact that what they have said may effect/outcome of my video is a very cool thing. This research could have been a lot better if I managed to interview more people and get their feelings on my plans and what they believe is the best idea for the video. It is the first time I have ever done this type of primary research and I believe that it went quite well but getting more people would've been better as I would've got a wider range of answers which would have helped me more when it comes to finalising my idea and progressing my ideas and thoughts. After analysing the results I can see a clear outline of what I need to put into my video and how my potential videos need to be shot and edited. This type of primary research has really helped me to understand what people would be looking for in the video that I decide to create, if I made more subjects more questions and had more subjects in general then my results would be a lot more accurate and I would have a wider understanding of what people are looking for and how to compose my video.

I then made a blog post on the ethics of documentary film making, this section of research really helped me to understand the boundaries of videos in an ethical aspect and this research will really help to when composing this video and future videos. I found a great website that spoke all about peoples different opinions and views on how filming can affect their lives. I learnt that filming some people can have many difficulties that may not be seen when you first start filming. I now know that when I film with children with learning disabilities I must make them sign a consent form and ensure that their parents are okay with their children being on camera. I also learnt that you have to make sure that anyone with a disability must always be able to leave if they want to so that they do not feel any pressure to be in front of the camera as that pressure can effect them a lot more than you can think.

Finally I went on to taking some test shots so that I could understand what type of shots people would like to see in the final video. I believe that this research was very helpful as I got over 20 responses which helped me to get a wide understanding of what style of shots people like to see. I took some images in the studio of how I could potentially set up some interview shots for my final video if I chose the skatepark video or the fashion video. This research will help me for both of these videos as I now know how to set up the interview looking shots. These will be the most important shots of the video as that is where I can get across the emotion in the video.I created a survey and got everyone in the class to answer it, this allowed me to see a wide range of answers and see what everyone preferred the look of. This research was very important as it allowed me to gain some more data on peoples preference and views when it comes to videos.

In conclusion all of this research has greatly helped me to gain a wider range of views and understand of the boundaries and parameters of what I am hoping to create. I have learnt a lot about what I can and can not do with this project and how I must present my work. The research that I have conducted has all been relevant and helpful, I am able to see some corresponding answers that show me that there must be some correlation with the answers and work that is being produced. Moving on I will keep an eye on the current market for all of my video ideas to see if there is any new videos that could effect my results and change my target audiences. My goal is to produce a high quality video that follows my research and brief
