I posted the test shots I took on a survey on google docs and asked the class to complete the question of which of the 4 images was the best interview look.

I handed out a sheet to each student with a link to the survey and I had 23 responses within 10 minutes.

Below is the link to the survey along with the layout of the survey and the results from the survey;

Above is a pie chart with the results from the survey, from this I can take that there is a very clear winner. Image 1 is the most voted image and I personally believe that it is the best image as the framing is very nice and you can see the subject clearly and in a nice light.

Above is the most voted image, I really like this shot as the subject is in a good section of the frame and the lighting is really good.

Above I have added the fibonacci square to the chosen image. Adding the fibonacci square to the image helps me to gauge where the point of interest are on the image, this is important as it helps to see the main areas where people are likely to be focusing their concentration on the image. I believe that adding this will help me massively as I can see the areas where people are likely to focus throughout the video and I can try to frame my subjects in the areas that are most likely to be focused on.

Above are the other 3 finalists, as you can see I have added the fibonacci square to all of them and there is an obvious reason why they haven't been chosen. None of the images above sit close to the fibonacci square. the bottom 2 are quite close but not quite as close as the chosen image. The chosen image has the majority of the image in the most compact part of the square whereas the others do not, this is a large reason as to why the remaining images were not chosen.

The lighting and position of the subject in the frame makes the shot look really nice as it is slightly off centred and really engages the focus of the viewer. When filming the actual video I will use a better lens compared to what I used today which will help me to create a much better depth of field and make the subject pop even more. This will allow me to attract all of the viewers attention to the subject
