Progressing my ideas

For my Final Major Production I am going to be progressing three of my initial ideas. The first one being the promotional video.

I spoke with my lecturer about my previous videos and what we thought was the best one. I felt as if my recent music video was the best video but he thinks that my Factual Production was the best video and he believes that I should create a video similar to that.

I really enjoyed filming this video as it was at the skatepark and I enjoy filming at the skatepark as that is where my passion for film making came from. He believes that I should make another video similar to this as he said it has a good story and a nice emotional feel to it. I feel as if I could make a video that is a lot better than this but with the same sort of video/storyline. The filming in this video was rushed and I didn't spend enough time reviewing shots before moving on. I could make the video at another skatepark with another subject which would make sure that the viewer knew that I was experimenting with different locations and subject styles. I am an instructor at Unit 1 Skatepark in Rochester so I could very easily use that skatepark as a location. I teach younger children how to ride stunt scooters so I could definitely find another subject for the video.

Here is a link to my analysis of that video:

I feel as if the video is good but there are a lot of improvements that could be made, such as the filming and editing. I also think that I could emphasise the emotion a lot more in this project. I believe that I could really outdo myself on this project.

Below is an example of the kind of video I could make;

The video is good and very informal but I feel as if it is for a news program or something like that. The cinematography/videography is very basic in this video and there are no very aesthetically pleasing shots in the video. I feel like I could make a video of similar style but with some much better camerawork as that is my speciality.

The other idea I am going to develop is the fashion video. For this idea I want it to be an interview/promotional video of the brand. I am inspired by a lot of different types of fashion such as streetwear (Supreme, Palace ETC) and high end fashion (Gucci, Louis Vuitton ETC). One of my favourite brand is "OFF-WHITEâ„¢", I really like this brand as it is a great mix of streetwear with a touch of high-end fashion. I really like the designs that "OFF-WHITEâ„¢" produce as they are very graphic based which I like and they are big fans of heavy branding which is nice as it lets anyone looking at you know that you are wearing "OFF-WHITEâ„¢". The owner of "OFF-WHITEâ„¢" is called Virgil Abloh, I am very inspired by his work as he started as a student in College and he was told by his fashion teacher that his designs were far too over branded to ever be popular and he never gave up on his dream. He now owns one of the most popular clothing brands in the world.

Below is a video that I really like the style of;

I know someone who is starting his own clothing company, I could make this type of video to showcase his design process and production line. I feel as if I could give off a really good look to his brand and make more people notice his brand.

Another idea I had was to create a music video, I have the skill set to create a music video as I have made one quite recently. I really enjoyed filming the music video as it was different to anything I have ever experienced whilst filming. It was an incredible experience and I feel as if the final product was really good. The only thing is that I don't want to do something for my FMP that I have done before/recently. I feel as if I should keep the music video in mind but try and progress another video idea if I can. The video that I filmed last time was very basic as it was just 2 camera shots and a little bit of editing. If I were to make another music video then I would want to make something a bit more wild as I think it will push my editing techniques to the max. Here is a video that I think has some really cool editing and camera techniques;

This video is very fast-paced with lots of cuts and different editing techniques. I feel as this type of editing can only be used on rap videos like this as most other music genres aren't as fast and upbeat. The many different overlays and images inserted into the video are what make it so special. This is one of my favourite music videos as there is so much going on but it still compliments the video well.
