Music video shoot and analysis

On Saturday 2nd December we went to Botany Bay in Broadstairs to shoot our music video. I got up early and went to get Callie and we arrived in Botany Bay at 8:30 for a 9:00am start. We made our way down to the beach to start filming, we had to carry all of the props down the big stairs down to the beach. We set up the first scene which was rather simple with Tom cutting holes in the bed sheets and then his friends wearing halloween masks joining him. The first scene was rather easy to film as he didn't walk too far.
You can see this scene from 0:00 to 1:03 in the video above. This was probably the smoothest part of the video. The only part I don't like is the part where he is sitting still and the camera is moving. It would've been better if the camera was still when he was sitting, it would've been more effective but then it it might not have been very easy to film him walking smoothly without the stabiliser. I really like the colour grading for this clip as it gives off a really nice vibe to the video.
The next part I want to talk about is the transition. If you watch the video from 1:02-1:06 you can see the transition between the two clips. The transition didn't really plan out how I wanted it to but I still think it is effective. The main part that I don't like is the difference in colour as I couldn't grade it the same colour as I had adjusted the settings on the camera so the camera shot was slightly darker. I had to adjust the settings as the previous settings made the sea very pale. The transition did go as I expected as I thought it would pan up to the cliffs and the next shot would pan down from the cliffs to show Tom still walking but unfortunately I didn't pan the camera at the same angle each time so when I put the two clips together you can see a difference in the shots.
The next shot is the final shot and by far the hardest one to film, We was filming this scene for a whole 2 and a half minutes. It may not sound like much but holding the camera on the stabiliser for that long was very hard. My arm was really hurting by the end of it and I was struggling to keep the camera smooth, that is why the last 10 seconds of the video is very shaky. Also, the camera goes really out of focus at 2:58 - 3:03 this is really annoying but I couldn't do anything about it. My camera is not professional enough to have a remote to control the focus of the camera but it isn't too bad and only lasts for a few seconds. The shot was going so well and I didn't want to ruin it by stopping the flow to adjust the camera. Luckily the camera adjusted itself pretty quickly and I didn't have to stop the scene. But apart from them two errors the rest of the scene went perfectly. I feel like this video shoot went really well as the acting was very professional and the filming looks very good.
