We had a skype call with our music video client. We asked him a few questions about himself and the music video.
Our first question was 'What is your style of music?' He replied with "Acoustic Pop."
We can now research that style of music and see what type of music videos are created for this genre.
We then asked if there were any music videos that he liked the style of. He had no examples at the time but later sent me a link to a music video that he liked the look of. The song was "Passenger - 27" The video shows the singer walking through a empty town with some dancers and actors walking with him.
Next we asked if there was a particular message that he wanted to get across in his video. He told us that there was no real message that he wants to get across but he wanted the video to be positive.
Callie (Visual effects specialist) then asked our client if he would like any special effects on his video and he said that he would prefer to keep the video quite simple and plain as he doesn't like videos that have too much going on.
We then asked if he would prefer the music video to be story based or just a shot of him sitting and playing his guitar. He told us that all of his previous videos were of him playing his guitar so he would like to make a video with a story line.
Next we asked him if there was a certain location that he would like to film in and he told us that camber sands would look good for the idea that he has. We are currently in talks about filming there or finding another location to make the video.
Finally we asked if there were any artists that you would like to take inspiration from or some stylistic features from. He gave us a few names of artists that inspire him. Those artists are; Frank Turner, Regina Spektor and Francis Joy. Callie has looked into their work and written up what their styles are like.
